Kyiv, 18 May 2016 – Civil society and international organizations met up in the halls of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine at a 2-day Information Fair 2016 to present their initiatives aimed at cooperation with Parliament.
The main target of this regular event is raising awareness of the MPs and parliament staff on the technical assistance opportunities offered by the international community and civil society organisations.
"Our stand was particularly well-attended on both days of the fair, drawing many MPs, their assistants, the Verkhovna Rada's Secretariat staff, civic activists, and the media," said the team representing UNDP.
At the opening ceremony, First Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Iryna Herashchenko and Chairperson of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Hanna Hopko welcomed the participants.
In her turn, Hanna Hopko stated, "It is essential that Parliament provides its key functions: legislative, representative, and oversight. This Information Fair allows MPs to learn about the relevant practices from think tanks."
