Rivne, 6 March 2017 – The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine are jointly launching a Ukraine-wide information campaign "Students against Corruption" to be rolled out through a series of workshops organised for 13 Ukrainian universities to raise students' awareness of country's anti-corruption efforts.

March 2017 marks three years since the victory of the Revolution of Dignity, which resulted in the fight against corruption made as one of the top items on country's agenda. Ukraine has made important strides in tackling this scourge and fostering the anti-corruption reform through unprecedented steps towards more transparency.

"The operationalisation of specialised anti-corruption bodies and the launch of a new electronic system of asset and income declarations for public officials were among the main achievements in 2016, placing Ukraine fourth in a list of the most open governments in Eastern Europe. Moving forward may face resistance and new challenges. Thus, it is important to increase the trust of citizens in the reform, particularly through information work," commented Ivan Presniakov, Team Lead of UNDP project for Enhanced Public Sector Transparency and Integrity.

NABU as one of the three newly-created anti-corruption bodies will dwell on the everyday work of its special forces and detectives, illustrating success stories of their struggle against top-corruption, investigation of complex corruption schemes, and detention of criminals with a vivid photo exhibition.

The campaign has started with its inaugurating International Anti-Corruption Day event – a video contest for university students – to stimulate critical thinking and encourage the youth to reflect on the importance of ethics and corruption-free conduct in daily situations.

The campaign is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, within the UNDP project for Enhanced Public Sector Transparency and Integrity.
