
Do you have an innovative idea how to solve a pressing problem in your community? Do you want to implement the latest innovations in the areas of democracy and human rights?
If you are between 18- and 35-year-old, create a team of like-minded people and apply for the first youth innovation competition in Ukraine U-Inn! Three winner teams of the competition will receive a grant from the UNDP in the total amount of 5,000 USD and mentoring support for the implementation of their initiatives.
The U-Inn aims at supporting young people from all regions of Ukraine to develop and implement innovative initiatives and projects, focused on improving the situation in human rights field and strengthening democracy in Ukraine at the local level.
To take part in the competition, please submit your innovation proposal at the uinn.org.ua website from September 17 to November 11, 2017.
The U-Inn program includes participation in the U-Inn Camp training camp, study visits to regional civil society organizations, specializing in democratization and human right, youth projects competition and youth innovation festival.
Applications for participation in the competition could refer to an innovative approach in addressing such issues as the participation of young people in the lives of local communities; influence on the power authorities; mechanisms of youth participation in decision-making processes at local level; openness and transparency of state bodies; protection and promotion of human rights; tolerance and non-discrimination; ensuring freedom of expression and media; protection of the IDPs rights, people with disabilities and other vulnerable groups; provision of an access to public information, open data; adherence to gender equality principles. Applicants can also offer their own topics within the framework of a common theme – support to democratization and human rights.
Total prize of the U-Inn is 15,000 USD (in UAH equivalent). It will be divided in 3 parts (5,000 USD) between winners in the following nominations:
Technological innovation offers a solution to a problem or implementation of the idea through technology (a mobile application, program, online or mobile game, interactive visualization, etc.).
Social script offers new tools and mechanisms, non-standard approaches (art, game, creative scenarios, etc.) to promote democracy and human rights, involve young people in decision-making and community life.
Social entrepreneurship proposes to use business models to solve pressing social problems (production, provision of goods and services, etc.).
An innovative project must be implemented within three months from the time of the winning bid.
The Youth Innovation Contest U-Inn is being organized by the United Nations Development Program in Ukraine in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine within the framework of the project “Civil Society for Enhanced Democracy and Human Rights in Ukraine”, financially supported by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The partners of the U-Inn Competition are the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, the State Agency for E-Governance, the Network of Hubs of Civil Society in Ukraine, the Center for the Development of Innovations at NaUKMA, Freedom House in Ukraine, Socialboost.
