Implementation of the National Strategy for Civil Society Development in 2016-20 requires an urgent improvement

29 representatives of local authorities and civil society from Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Rivne, Khmelnytsky and Chernivtsi oblasts brainstormed on improving the efficiency of the Strategy’s implementation in their regions at the seminar, held in Khmelnytsky, Western Ukraine.

"Implementation of the National Strategy for Civil Society Development in 2016-20 requires an urgent improvement. Also, local authorities need not only to improve information sharing about the Strategy’s implementation, but also teach citizens how to jointly find solutions to local problems", said Andriy Krupnik, head of the All-Ukrainian CSO “Association for Supporting Self-Organisation of Population”.

Impartial monitoring of the Strategy’s implementation is conducted by “Association for Supporting Self-Organisation of Population” with UNDP support. It allows to identify deficiencies and develop innovative approaches to the Strategy’s implementation starting from today.

So far, only 19 out of 25 regions have met the objectives of the National Strategy in regional action plans. Interestingly that 24.3% of the allocated funding for regional programs has no direct relation to its tasks.
