A new report on the human rights situation in Ukraine will be introduced on Friday 29 August at a press briefing at 11am to be held in the Crisis Media Centre, Instytutska street, 4 (hotel “Ukraina”, 3rd floor), Kyiv.
The report will be introduced by Mr. Ivan Simonovic, Assistant Secretary-General for Human Rights, who is visiting the country from 28 August to 3 September. During his mission, Mr. Simonovic will be meeting with high-level Ukrainian officials, civil society and other actors and travelling to the eastern regions, with a view to assessing the human rights situation since his last visit to the country in May 2014. This is Mr. Simonovic’s fourth mission to the country since the beginning of the crisis this year.
The Human Rights Monitoring Mission was deployed to Ukraine by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in March 2014.
Copies of the new report and other materials will be made available at the press briefing. The report is also being launched simultaneously by the United Nations Human Rights Office in Geneva on 29 August.
