The
portal is envisaged as a crowdsourcing platform for sharing proposals and initiatives of Lviv citizens regarding municipal development, public discussions and search for fellow-minders, who can then unite to accomplish a common goal. The portal creates an easy and accessible mechanism for the community and local government to support and implement promising and innovative projects.
The portal is targeted at active Lviv citizens and visitors who love Lviv and want to make it a comfortable city for leisure, work and living. "We want this portal to unite like-minds who are willing to make this city better", noted Halyna Kosmima, Head of protocol and documentation department of the Administration of the city Mayor.
The portal will allow every visitor to pin his or her proposal or initiative onto the city map, share it in social networks, initiate discussions with fellow-netizens, advocate for wider support and get engaged into practical implementation of this proposal.
Communities, business and the government are given a chance to establish partnerships around the most promising proposals. As a result, a lot of important ideas and innovative projects (that Lviv citizens frequently initiate) which had not been publicly discussed before and thus were left to their own means would get a chance to serve the benefit of city development.
"The logic and philosophy of this tool is to advance a positive attitude to cooperation between the municipality and respective community as well as to mobilize citizens to unite their resources for providing solutions to common problems", noted Maksym Klyuchar of UNDP Democratization and Human Rights Programme.
"We set up a mechanism where people will be engaged into problem-solving. This project is different because it is a book of proposals, ideas and initiatives rather than an average book of complaints", underlined Roman Koshovy, head of Lviv oblast NGO Committee of Voters of Ukraine.
Implementation of the project, in partnership between the municipality and the Committee of Voters of Ukraine became possible to seed support rendered by UNDP as a result of the Smart city Lab on Municipal innovations in Odesa, as the project was deemed innovative both for the city of Lviv, and for Ukraine as a whole.
The portal presents its registered visitors with three simple steps for going from idea to action:
Step 1.
Get registered with the portal, describe your idea, and put it on the city map. You can also add a photo to illustrate your idea.
Step 2.
Help the idea to undergo public discussion, promote it in social networks and find fellow-minders. It is important that these people are engaged into advancement of your idea: not just by simply voting for it but also contributing to its implementation.
Step 3.
Receive support and establish partnership with local government for implementation of the idea.
