Ministry of Justice launches an e-platform to hold public discussions on National Human Rights Strategy

The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine has announced the launch of the National Human Rights Strategy web page designed to engage a wide range of individuals and public institutions to discuss and shape the Strategy. This portal was created with the support of the Democratization and Human Rights Programme in Ukraine, implemented by UNDP and funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.

Regional Coordinators of the Ombudsperson advance in National Preventive Mechanism

On 20-22 February 2015, a 3-day training session on the National Preventive Mechanism implementation was held for regional representatives and regional coordinators of Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights in a suburb of Kyiv.

The legislation on open data tabled by the President to the Parliament for consideration

Democratic control over authorities, tackling corruption, well-informed citizen participation in decision-making, enhanced administrative services and useful tools at your fingertips – all of these may be a big step closer to Ukrainians now. On 19 February the draft law that introduces the notion of open data into the Ukrainian legislative system was tabled by the President for Parliamentary consideration due to support rendered by UNDP.

Responding to immediate needs of IDPs through the Resource Centre

On 17 February 2015, a press-conference to present first results achieved by the IDP Resource Centre was held in Kyiv. For the first four months the Centre has assisted over 4,500 IDPs by providing consultations on psychological and legal issues, employment, and accommodation, and delivered humanitarian assistance to more than 2,600 resettlers.
